I
first saw and tried glassblowing in Monterrey, Mexico when
I was about 9 years old. I was enthralled. It was not unitl
much later when I studied at Newcomb College with Gene Koss
that I began to understand the magical complexities and the
depth of possibilities that glass in its many forms, made
possible. Studying at Pilchuck furthered my resolve to know
more and I was encouraged to apply to RISD by Hardu Keck,
then RISD Provost, who saw some of my "Gravity Works
Installation"
pieces. I was the only student accepted to the graduate glass
program at RISD my first year, studying with Bruce Chao,
whose work I had long admired for pushing the limits of the
material, as well as Michael Schiener, whose work I also
admire as a scuptor. I also studied with Pino Singnoretto
both in the US and Japan. Click

as a sculptural medium. |
